Painting and Sketching Holidays in South West France
Expert art tuition at La Salle
Join our friendly group of painters in the Tuscany of France for a fabulous 7 night holiday. Courses are informal and fun but informative and productive and offer tuition and guidance in various mediums including pastels, oil, acrylic, water colour, ink and mixed media and will suit all abilities from complete beginners to more experienced painters.
The painting holidays consist of approximately 25 hours of painting tuition plus many informative excursions. Groups will be of 4 – 10 people, which ensures students will get plenty of individual quality tuition. Tutors are all professional artists and experts in their respective areas and tuition is tailored to suit the individual.
Paint in "plein air"
Teaching sessions take place in the large studio, or on the covered terrace which doubles as an outdoor studio depending on the weather. The spacious studio is well equipped with easels, boards, tables, chairs, jars, rags and thinners. Students should bring their own supports, brushes, pencils and the painting medium of their choice.
There will be opportunity to work ‘en plein air’ either in the garden here at La Salle, in the lanes nearby or in our local village, St Puy with its beautiful old stone buildings, Chateau, Church and open views out towards the mountain range of the Pyrenees.
The beautiful gardens of Latour-Marliac. This is where Claude Monet purchased the Water Lilies from which he developed his water gardens at Giverny and which inspired him to paint ‘Les Nymphaes’
The Cistercian Abbaye de Flaran, holds the permanent ‘Simonov Collection’ which features works by Masters such as Picasso, Toulouse Lautrec, Modigliani, Renoir, Cezanne, Monet and Rodin.
The fabulous ‘Jardins de Coursiana’ in nearby La Romieu. A fabulous inspirational visit to the beautiful gardens, where we may paint or sketch ‘en plein air’ and linger for a picnic lunch, weather permitting.
